Hutchings to Host Mock Interview Fair
February 13, 2012
Hutchings Career Center's senior class will participate in the school's first Mock Interview Fair on Thursday, February 16, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Fifteen employers from the local business community have volunteered to interview students in a job-like setting to give the students advice on interview skills. A typical interview session will be 20 minutes and will include feedback from the employer.
Students will be rated on their communication skills, poise and maturity, explanation of a previously completed job application and résumé, skill at answering mock interview questions, and proper dress and grooming.
Lawrence Mink, Work-Based Learning Coordinator at Hutchings, says the Mock Interview Fair will give seniors an opportunity to develop their job interviewing skills at a critical time in their lives.
"Students, especially seniors, need to know how important a job interview can be," Mink says. "First impressions, especially with an employer, can determine whether a student gets the job or a second interview. This Mock Interview Fair will help students realize why we have focused so strongly on career development skills here at Hutchings."
Hutchings Career Center is located at 2011 Riverside Drive. For more information, contact Lawrence Mink at (478) 779-2537.
