Superintendent of Schools Dr. Romain Dallemand and the Bibb County School District will announce the "The Macon Miracle," Bibb County's Strategic Plan, with a Kickoff Celebration on Friday, February 10, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at the Macon Centreplex.
The Strategic Plan culminates the efforts of thousands of District employees, parents, and community members who shared their input and suggestions at our September and October summits. The work begun at these summits serves as the foundation for "The Macon Miracle," a plan that will guide the District and community for the next five years to ensure all children receive a high-quality education so they will be successful in a globally competitive, multi-ethnic society.
"When I came to Bibb County, I saw a community that is ready and willing to come together and support the fundamental change that will improve education for all children," says Dr. Dallemand. "That change will require a united effort by the entire community. Every employee in the District, parent, faith-based leader, private business owner and employee, politician, and community member must be committed to our students."
The February 10 Kickoff Celebration will be attended by all Bibb County School District employees as well as students representing each school zone. State and community dignitaries, community and school partners, city and county political representatives, local college and university representatives, and representatives from the faith-based community also will attend.
So that students and all employees may participate in the Kickoff Celebration, schools will be on an early release schedule February 10. Approximate release times are as follows: Elementary schools, 12:00 p.m.; middle schools, 11:10 a.m.; and high schools, 11:00 a.m. All of Bibb County School District's Afterschool Programs will be closed for the day.
We are excited to celebrate this important event as a community as we work toward building strength of character in students and preparing all children for college.
"It is my goal - and the goal of our District - that we become nationally recognized for student achievement and education innovation, and I look forward to working with everyone as we commit ourselves to students and move our community forward through education," says Dr. Dallemand.
The Macon Centreplex is located at 200 Coliseum Drive in Macon, Ga. For more information, contact the District at (478) 765-8711.
